Online VCE Chemistry tutoring · Year 11 & 12 (Victoria)

Stop memorising.
Start actually getting it.

The YYC Chem Confidence Program is an online small-group VCE Chemistry tutoring program for students in Victoria who study hard but still feel lost before SACs. We take "30% on SACs" students and turn them into confident 70s and 80s by focusing on understanding, not memorising.

Parents: get a calmer, more confident chem student — with SAC marks that finally match their effort.

still not clicking.

😩 SAC marks aren't movingYou're putting in the hours but your scores don't show it. It feels like the effort isn't worth it.

🤯 You memorise, not understandYou can recall the steps but if the question is worded differently, you're stuck.

😶 Too scared to ask in classYour school teacher goes fast and asking questions feels embarrassing. You just... don't.

😬 Exams stress you outWalking into a chem SAC or exam feels like walking into the unknown — even after revising.

From "drop chemistry" to a study score of 44

★★★★★

I was on the verge of dropping chemistry, averaging around 30% on my SACs and not passing a single one in Year 11. Two chem teachers told me to drop it, but I decided to give it one more shot and found Katherine on TikTok. By the end of Year 11, I was actually passing chem for once. Katherine helped me understand concepts in a way that made sense to me. It wasn't just about reading notes and answering questions; it was about understanding why things were right or wrong. She built my confidence, and in Year 12, I scored 75% and above on all my SACs, even hitting 98% on one! I ended the year with a study score of 44, and I couldn't have done it without Katherine!

💬

Private Skool community

A private online space to ask questions between sessions, get feedback on your work, and connect with other students going through the same thing.

⏱️

Timed practice questions

We do questions under exam conditions in every session. Students say this alone made them faster and more confident going into SACs.

hi, I'm Katherine

I'm a former senior VCE Chemistry teacher and VCE textbook author. I know the study design inside-out, I know what VCAA actually wants in answers, and I know how to make chem feel simple.

I'm not here to re-read the textbook at you. I'm here to help you understand why chemistry works the way it does — so you can actually apply it in a SAC, not just recognise it on a flashcard.

My classes are small, low-key, and judgement-free. Students wear pyjamas. They ask dumb questions (there aren't any). They actually learn.

Don't take my word for it

★★★★★
Chem was my 'bottom two' subject coming into Year 12 and I didn't plan to put in much effort, but as the year progressed with each YYC session, I just felt myself finding genuine interest in it more and more — it didn't even feel like study by exams (something about your magic!!). I think I really can tell myself that 'yeah I can' now.

I got a raw 43 in chem which rounded all the way up to a 46! At the start of the year I was really struggling to pick up the concepts and calculations. I know I could not have done this well in chem without your help. I ended up getting a 99.6 ATAR and duxing my school — I really do feel like your encouragement and belief in my abilities gave me confidence across all my learning.

Chem's going great — I'm actually top of my class at the moment and my chem teacher is shocked at how much I've improved since last year!

I went from failing all my chemistry SACs last year to being above average on every single one of my SACs this year with the help of Katherine. I truly believed I would have failed chemistry this year if it wasn't for Katherine — the way she describes concepts and questions to make such complex problems seem so simple and doable is a skill.

★★★★★
I finally was able to understand chemistry. In Year 11, I struggled to answer questions because I only memorised steps. This year, Katherine enabled me to learn chemistry in a way I never was able to — I was finally entering SACs with the confidence of not just knowing what to do, but WHY I was doing it.

Katherine assisted me in getting ahead and being more confident in my SACs which allowed me to go from a 69% to an 86%. My average has also increased. Katherine has a great can-do attitude and explains chem in a way I really understand.

YYC has genuinely taken me from being hesitant to studying chemistry, to doing questions for fun and enjoying the theory of the design. From using different approaches to providing an absolute plethora of resources, YYC will do it all.

Before her guidance, complex concepts felt overwhelming. Katherine is so good at breaking down intricate topics. She uses tailored examples that directly correlate with exam questions, which significantly improved my application skills. I wholeheartedly recommend her to any student aiming for clarity and excellence!

I went failing chem and hating chem to passing chem with flying colours (still don't like chem lol) but this was all because of Katherine helping me this year. She's really friendly and casual which makes lessons super comfortable, but you can tell she is SO passionate about chemistry.

My first SAC score was a medium high, but after starting tutoring I scored consistent very highs and excellents throughout the rest of the year. My confidence in tackling questions that initially confused me really improved — I now feel like I have a range of strategies to help me answer questions.

I could not recommend Katherine more! She has helped me immensely and her explanations are unmatched. My understanding and confidence in chem has improved so much. Without the tutoring and all the resources she provides, I would be feeling so much worse going into exams.

Katherine is a phenomenal Chemistry teacher. You're covering the same content you go over at school but with exam-style questions, so you're not learning two things at once — you're mastering what you're learning as you go. Katherine is superrr amazing because her classes cater for anyone and everyone.

Simple. Consistent. It works.

No complicated system. Just four things, done well, week after week.

1

Attend live class

Join online each week. Ask questions in real time. See how other students think through problems. Small groups mean you actually get noticed.

2

Do the worksheet

Practice exam-style questions made specifically for where your cohort is struggling that week.

3

Rewatch the recording

Lock concepts in before SACs by rewatching key moments. Students say recordings are invaluable for last-minute revision.

4

Rinse and repeat

Steady improvement over the term. By exam time, you walk in having done hundreds of exam-style questions. That's the difference.

Is YYC right for you?

If you need one-on-one eyes on you every minute, a private 1:1 VCE Chemistry tutor is probably the better fit — and that's totally fine. But if you're willing to ask questions in a small group and want more structure and resources than a solo tutor can realistically provide, YYC's Chem Confidence Program is usually the better fit. Small classes mean you still get seen, plus you get a community, recordings, exam-style worksheets, and full-year notes bundled into one program instead of paying week-to-week for single 1:1 lessons.

FAQs

What if I miss a class?

Every session is recorded. You can watch any time, and ask follow-up questions inside the Skool community. Missing a class doesn't mean falling behind.

Classes are small — will I still get attention?

That's exactly the point. I cap classes at 15 students so I can actually see where people are getting stuck and adjust on the fly. You're not a number in a lecture hall.

Is YYC better than 1:1 tutoring?

If you need one-on-one eyes on you every minute, a private 1:1 VCE Chemistry tutor is probably the better fit — and that's totally fine. But if you're willing to ask questions in a small group and want more structure and resources than a solo tutor can realistically provide, YYC's Chem Confidence Program is usually the better fit. Small classes mean you still get seen, plus you get a community, recordings, exam-style worksheets, and full-year notes bundled into one program instead of paying week-to-week for single 1:1 lessons.

Can I join mid-term?

If there's still a seat available, yes. Otherwise you'll go on the waitlist — when a spot opens up, we email in order. The earlier you put your hand up, the better.

How are the worksheets made?

I build them weekly based on what I saw the class struggle with in the previous session — then refine based on your feedback. They're exam-style, so you're practicing exactly what comes up on the day.

Do I need to have my camera on?

Nope. Some students have their camera on, some don't. Some literally roll up in their pyjamas. The vibe is relaxed — what matters is that you're learning, not how you look while you do it.

When do I actually pay?

You don't pay anything until just before the term starts. But saying yes now means you're locking in your spot — once the class fills, it closes. No exceptions.

⚡ Only 15 spots per class

Yeah, you can do this.
